As a member of The Choctaw Nation, Shane takes great pride in being recognized as a Registered Choctaw Artist. Raised as a Native American with a strong family background, it has always been important to Shane to take pride in his ancestry and to also pass it down to future generations. Native American leatherwork is culturally significant and plays a vital role in many tribal traditions. Leather was used for practical purposes like clothing, shoes, and shelters, but also held symbolic meaning and was incorporated into ceremonial items and art. It represented resilience, status, and a connection to nature and ancestors.
